- President of the House of Representatives (March 2008-June 2011).
- Representative of Nicosia constituency under the banner of the Democratic Party (DIKO) (2006-2016) and Representative of Limassol constituency under the banner of DEPA since June 2021.

Has previously served as:
Ex officio Chairperson of the Committee of Selection, Chairperson of the Ad Hoc House Committee on Rules of Procedure and of the Special House Committee on Declaration and Examination of Financial Interests.

Currently serves as:
- Member of the House Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs. 
- Member of the delegation of the House to the IPU and to the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC).

- Member of the DIKO Central Committee (1988-2018).
- Director of the President’s Office of the House of Representatives (1991-2001).
- Member of the DIKO Executive Bureau (1997-2018).
- Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic and Deputy Government Spokesperson (2003-2006).
- President of DIKO (2006-2013).
- Member of the National Council (2006-2013 and since 2019).
- Ceased being a member of DIKO as of February 2018.
- President of DEPA since October 2018.
