The International Relations Service of the House of Representatives

The work of the House of Representatives in the field of international relations has been systematically supported since 1978 by the International Relations Service.

The duties of International Relations Officers consist, inter alia, of the following:

•  The promotion of the political, economic, cultural and wider relations of the Republic of Cyprus with other countries at parliamentary level.

• The promotion of the establishment, development and advancement of bilateral and multilateral relations and the communication of the House of Representatives with foreign parliaments and international parliamentary organisations.

• The preparation and materialisation of programmes of visits to Cyprus of foreign parliamentary delegations and, respectively, of delegations of the House that participate in missions abroad as well as, accompanying the members on such missions, as secretaries to the delegations.

• The organisation of conferences, meetings and other activities hosted by the House of Representatives, within the framework of its obligations, as a member of international, european and regional parliamentary organisations. 

• The collection of data, conduct of research and processing of information on a wide range of topics and the drafting of various texts (reports, informative and other notes, studies, essays, draft resolutions, documents etc.) to facilitate the work of the President and Members of the House in terms of their international activities. Correspondingly, the compilation of material for informing foreign parliaments and international parliamentary organisations about the activities of the House, is also included in their duties. 

• The promotion of the work of the House of Representatives in the field of international relations, through the drafting of press releases on the activities of the President and the Members of the House. With regard to the activities of the President of the House, in particular, International Relations Officers forward relevant information to the press and social media.
