BILATERAL RELATIONS

Exchange of visits

The promotion of exchanges at various levels contributes substantially to the continuous renewal and upgrading of the bilateral relations of the House of Representatives with other parliaments and to the exchange of views on issues of mutual and wider political interest.

Exchanges of visits take place at the level of Presidents of Parliaments, respective parliamentary committees and Friendship Groups, following relevant invitations, usually on the basis of reciprocity.

Additionally, working visits of the President / delegations of the House abroad and, respectively, of officials / delegations of other parliaments to Cyprus take place from time to time, some of which for the purpose of examining specific issues and, occasionally, of drafting relevant reports.

On the occasion of regional, European and / or international parliamentary activities, the Parliament makes use of contacts to further promote its bilateral relations with parliaments of other countries.

Friendship Groups with other Parliaments

Currently, 45 Friendship Groups are established in the House of Representatives with other national parliaments. The House ranks proportionately high on the list of parliaments which promote this institution.

Cyprus Friendship Groups with other Parliaments consist of the Chairperson and Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs.
