Representative of Nicosia constituency under the banner of AKEL-Left-New Forces since 2001.

- Member of the Committee of Selection.
- Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs and of the House Standing Committee on Labour and Social Insurance.
- Head of the delegation of the House to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
- One of the Vice-presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in 2008.

 Leader of the AKEL-Left-New Forces parliamentary group.
