Its material competences cover public health, as well as health services offered by the public or private sector. It exercises parliamentary scrutiny on issues of medical, paramedical, mental health and dental health services, the operation of public and private hospital, the provision and circulation of medicinal products and drugs, and the operation of the State General Laboratory.
