Parliamentary tenure / activity:

Representative of Nicosia constituency under the banner of AKEL-Left-New Forces since 1991.

Was: 

  Parliamentary Spokesman of AKEL-Left-New Forces (2003-2013). 
  Member of the Committee of Selection. 
  Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs.

  First Vice-president of the delegation of the House to the EU-Cyprus Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
  Leader of the delegation of the House to the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA) and of the delegation of the House to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union (WEU).

Is: 

  Member of the Committee of Selection.
  Deputy Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Defence Affairs.
  Member of the House Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs since January 2014 and full member of the Special House Committee on Declaration and Examination of Financial Interests.
  Member of the delegation of the House to the Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).

  
Political career:

 Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL) until December 2013  and head of the Party’s Committee for the Study of the Cyprus Problem until January 2014.
 Member of the National Council, the supreme advisory body to the President of the Republic on the Cyprus problem until January 2014.
