Married to Marina Alexandrou; has one daughter and one son.

Studies:
Mechanical Engineering, Economics and Political Science (Universität Stuttgart, Germany) and doctorate (PhD) in Political Science (Universität Tübingen, Germany).

English, German.

Parliamentary tenure/activity:

Representative of Famagusta constituency under the banner of DISY since 2006. 

Has previously served as:
- Chairperson of the House Standing Committee on Educational Affairs and Culture.
- Chairperson of the Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA).
- Member of the Bureau of the OSCE PA.

Currently serves as:
- Chairperson of the House Standing Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism.
- Member of the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs and of the House Standing Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
- Member of the delegation of the House to the OSCE PA.

Political career:

- Secretary of the DISY Youth Organisation (NEDISY) Enlightenment Committee and Famagusta District Secretary of the Organisation of Young Scientists (ONE).
- Observer Member at the Economic and Social Council of the European Union (2003-2004).
- General Secretary of the “Panagrotikos” (Cyprus’ Farmers Association) until 2008.
- Vice Chairperson of the European Syndicate of Farming Organisations (COPA) and member of several advisory committees of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Union. 
- Member of the DISY Political Bureau.
- Vice Chairperson of the European People’s Party group to OSCE PA. 
- Member of the “Junge Union” youth organisation of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Stuttgart, Germany.
