Married to Marietta Charalambidou; has two daughters from his first marriage.

Studies:
Medicine (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece) and doctorate (PhD) (Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini, Greece).

Profession before election:
Physician (Special Dermatologist-Venereologist).

Foreign languages:
English.

Parliamentary tenure/activity:

Representative of Limassol constituency under the banner of KS EDEK (2003-2011, 2016-2022) and under the banner of EDEK Socialist Party since October 2022.

Has previously served as:
- Chairman of the House Standing Committee on the Cyprus File and of the House Standing Committee on Defence Affairs.
- Head of the delegation of the House to the Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

Currently serves as:
- Spokesperson of EDEK Socialist Party in the House.
- Chairperson of the House Standing Committee on Defence Affairs.
- Member of the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs, of the House Standing Committee on Health Affairs, of the Ad Hoc House Committee on the Review and Update of the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives and alternate member of the Special House Committee on Declaration and Examination of Financial Interests.
- Head of the delegation of the House to the Interparliamentary Conference for the CFSP and the CSDP**.

Political career:

- District Secretary of the Socialist Party EDEK (SK EDEK) Limassol (1990-1995).
- General Secretary of SK EDEK (1995-2000). 
- Second Vice President of the party (1999-2001).
- First Vice President of the party (2001-2012).
- Deputy President of the party (2012-2015). 
- President of the party since March 2015.
- Member of the National Council, the supreme advisory body to the President of the Republic on the Cyprus problem.
